Today, Feb 27, 2008 William F. Buckley passed away at the age of 82. He was one of the founders of the modern conservative movement representing AUTHENTIC Republican conservatism represented by the likes of Barry Goldwater & Ron Paul. He was a unique figure in that he was indeed a true conservative yet an intellectual of the highest standard. His political nemisis was Gore Vidal yet Vidal was known to say he had the deepest respect for Buckley.

I heard a short clip today on the radio of Buckley and Vidal debating. They were both talking at the same time and calling each other names. It was great.

Yeah it was. If you get a chance look up the transcript of the debate. Some of the things they called each other was crazy. Vidal called Buckley a crypto-facist a bunch of times.
